This weekend's Midwest District Championship is the final "qualifier" for USAC Mopar .25 Midget participants planning on competing in the July 6-10 "Battle at the Brickyard" Nationals at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
All participants at the KQMC National/Midwest Thunder Race will be issued automatic invitations to compete at Indy. This will be the final chance to secure a spot at the prestigious IMS event.
This weekend's action at the KQMC track, located east of Kokomo, follows similar "qualifiers" at Braselton, Ga.'s Metro Atlanta and San Bernardino, Calif.'s Orange Show Clubs.
An added bonus for the young racers this weekend will be the same flagman who was in the flag stand for last weekend's Indianapolis 500. Serving as the chief starter for this weekend's Kokomo qualifier will be reknowned Indianapolis 500 Chief Starter Tom Hansing of Indianapolis.
The Kokomo activities begin with sign-ins and pill draws on Friday. Saturday's Rookie, Junior/Senior/Heavy Honda and Light/Heavy 160 classes have practice at 9:30 and victory lane ceremonies follow the racing action. On Sunday it will be Junior/Senior Stock, Junior/Senior Animal, Mod, Light/Heavy World Formula, B, Light/Heavy AA and Half classes with practice and racing again followed by victory lane ceremonies.
The Comfort Suites in Brownsburg, Ind. has been designated as the Official Race Headquarters for the "Mopar Battle at the Brickyard." A discounted room rate is available for thoise participating at Indy by calling the hotel at (317) 852-2000.

PETTY RIDE-A-LONGS AVAILABLE JUNE 15-19 AT Walt Disney World
A truly memorable experience awaits those who take advantage of the Richard Petty Driving Experience "Ride-A-Longs" being offered during the upcoming USAC Mopar .25 Midget Nationals at the Walt Disney World complex in Orlando, Fla.
The ride-a-longs will be available to USAC members for $49 from June 15-19 at the Walt Disney World Speedway, which was the site for the inaugural Indy Racing League event in 1996.
The Mopar .25 Midget Nationals will occur in the shadows of the world famous Walt Disney World Resort and serves as round five of the 2010 USAC Mopar .25 Midget "Generation Next" Tour.
A strong contingent of drivers representing states spanning the country are expected to compete in this spectacular event which will be streamed live on usacracing.com.
The Florida oval, located at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, is a newly-designed "Disney D" and will be the first tri-oval speedway in quarter-midget racing history.
