I am very strongly opposed to dropping the Heavy Super Stock class.
This class is very popular in Region 2 and usually has full fields,
or close to it, at most tracks. The proposed alternatives (running
Heavy Honda or Heavy Mod) would not be acceptable to my members, since
this would involve investment in new equipment. Most of the Heavy Super
Stock cars on the four dirt tracks in Region 2 use the Briggs and
Stratton engine. (The top three finishers in Heavy Stock at the Region 2
Dirt States Race had Briggs motors). In fact, most of the Super Stock
class cars on the dirt in Region 2 run the Briggs engine. They are just as
fast as, if not faster than, the Deco's. The Briggs has been an affordable
engine here for years, which is why the Honda class has not caught on to
the extent it has in other parts of the country. On the dirt, Super Stock
cars counts are 2 to 3 times larger than the Honda classes.
