Sorry Don, I was not clear on my post. My point is that Don Rector obviously
with 3 motors apart and they are all different, and he states that some
would not pass certain rule books( JSCA, Region 10's etc) why wait for the
manual? Get on the phone or e-mail and get it resolved.

I completely agree it should have as many eyes looking at it as possible.

Greg,

I'm not sure how Don Rector could provide a critique without seeing the
manual first... I don't even have a 160 or I won't be running a 160 this
year, but you surely must see the fustration of members waiting over a
year for this important document to be produced , and without a call to
the membership for input.

Glen of the Tech committee gets on this list, but I have never seen Dave
Preston offer any "open-door" to any of our members. If there was ever
any intent to ask for inputs or critiques, it hasn't been offered by
Dave Preston. ( no bias - just fact ).

Please....... BOD... post the GX-160 manual on the dot com site , so
that there CAN be some critiques before the national meeting.
This shouldn't bee so complicated and secretive...... What's the deal?

Wayne,

Who's to say this hasn't been tried before ? I don't see anything
wrong with airing out gripes or complaints on this list. Its a good way
of getting a feel of how all of the other members feel about a subject.
Or, a way of presenting your side of a dispute . If you present your
case with facts, that is hardly "mud-slinging". Obviously, I can't
speak for everybody, but if I were a member of the BOD, I would expect
and encourage criticism. If I did something wrong, or drug my feet on a
project, I would expect the members to remind me that I was elected to
be a producer, not a figurehead.

And to paraphrase : for the paranoid, direct contact (phone calls)
can be used as THEIR "un-audit trail". ie... "this conversation never
happened". (does this sound familiar ?) So, I think in a lot of
cases, posting a gripe on the list may be more conductive to a flow
of information. At least it's out in the open where there can be no
denying the contact or exchange and it does establish a time-line.

We had dinner at RACE ROCK in Orlando, FL this evening and guess what two
cars are depicted in line drawing form on the Kid's Menu [which is titled
"The Quarter Midget Menu" .... Brad May's 90s something Stanley car and .....
the Thunder Chicken! As it turns out, the Thunder Chicken is not as old as
was first suspected. TC actually started out as a 1970 Rice car.

Don Roden wrote:

resp: I agree. And the most important word in your typing above is
"if". "Facts" can get real interesting individualized definition at
times. I've been still "160 fence sitting", although still heavily
inclined to go this way. One item of focus for me is the concern around
what tolerance range the QMA manual must/should be set at due to the
"from the factory" observations. Seemingly the manual is about to hit.
There will obviously be tolerances posted within it. But for me there
remains a question around those who have posted items on this that say -
I have, or have seen X number of 160 Honda widgets, direct from the
factory, that indicate wide tolerance deflections that must be
considered. Now, try as I might, I've yet to see the post that says -
here's the Honda part in question, here's the tolerance range I/we have
measured and can verify at any time, and here's what this limited
sampling seems to indicate the 160 Manual toerance range ought to look
like. Getting these facts at this point would obviously be too late.

resp: Agree. This is cause/reason for the words "as a first step" in
my original post. However, E-Mail is probably the WORST timeline,
contact, fact, means of proof. The ability to edit EVERY ITEM of an
e-mails content is the problem. It can be made a little (but only a very
little) more bit helpful if delivery and read receipt functions are
enabled.
>
Fundamentally we've clear points of agreement, but due to another clear
weakness of email, the difference potential between sent intent and
receipt interpretation, clarification becomes prudent.
