 USAC Mopar .25 Midget – “Generation Next” Round 10 Was BIG at Little ‘T

The USAC Mopar “Generation Next” Round 10, hosted by Little ‘T, located on the grounds of NASCAR sanctioned Thompson Speedway in Connecticut, is now in the books!  “The event was a complete success,” said Rick Fuller, President.     “The entire Board was so impressed with how smooth things ran and how much support we had.  Our club is fortunate to have a great facility, with the support of DR Hoenig and the Raceway Golf Club.   We had a great time and made many new friends with all of the families who came from out of town.   The USAC group is like a well oiled machine and we are hoping they choose Little ‘T next year for another National event.”   

As is tradition at a USAC National event, podium finishers received Gold, Silver & Bronze Medals, in Mopar Victory Lane.  They were also presented with beautiful Bronze Eagle Statues sized for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place, and an event T-Shirt, graciously provided by the club.   First place winners received tire pressure gauges courtesy of Tanner by Mittler Brothers and 2nd place received backpacks and a T-shirt from Valken Wheels.  All drivers received a commemorative Yankee Doodle New England Championship decal.

“The weather didn’t exactly cooperate with us,” said Director James Spink.  “Early arriving families were treated to the “Thursday Night Thunder” races at the big track.  But with practice rained out on Friday, one round of practice Saturday morning and a couple of rain delays, Opening Ceremonies Sunday morning & 77 races for the weekend, we ran 251 cars and had families heading home by 4 pm.” 

Heat Races and Semi’s were run on Saturday along with 3 Rookie A-Main features.  

“It was perfect timing,” chuckled Fuller.  Our Ice Cream Social and Magician were a great hit right during the rain delay.   “We are so grateful to our sister clubs, Syracuse and Oswego, who came over to Thompson to run.  Our club members are doing our best to get to Syracuse next weekend.”  

Round #2 of the USAC NorthEast Championship will be at Syracuse, NY, June 29 – July 1, with Round #3 at Oswego (Fulton, NY) August 10 – 12, 2012.
