USAC Honda .25 Series Little Kalamazoo Event Featured Torrid Points Battles

(Kalamazoo, MI) – The USAC Honda .25 Quartermidget ‘Gen Next’ Series stopped at Little Kalamazoo, August 16-17, for the Honda Midget Weekend Spectacular. Kalamazoo is one of the fastest tracks and is was the 8th stop of the 9-event tour for the National Pavement Title.

“The weekend was great for all the kids here at Kalamazoo,” said Shawn Parker of Nashville. “Saturday events went along very well and families got to go to the big track to watch the USAC/Stars Midget and HPD Midgets race.”

Sunday main events were delayed because of rain, for the young drivers, but Mother Nature opened a window and the races were on. Carson Hocevar of Portage, MI continued his quest for multiple championships by winning 3 events (Hvy Honda, Hvy 160 and Hvy ‘AA) this weekend. Austin Nigh of Greenfield, IN also tripled up winning Sr Honda, Sr Animal and Lt World Formula. Other winners for the weekend were Caden Hoyt of Homer, MI (Lt Mod), Tanner Reif of Henderson, NV (Briggs Jr Animal), Neil Allison of Greensboro, NC (Honda Lt 160), Hayden Sprague of Howell, MI (Un Restricted Animal), Berklee Jimenez of San Antonio, TX (Hvy World Formula), Brady Johnson of Mooresville, NC (Jr Honda), Zeb Wise of Angola, IN (Lt 'AA) not pictured - Madison Snyder of Kalamazoo, MI (Blue Rookie) Top 3 in each class received gold, silver or bronze medallions and commemorative 'steering wheel' trophies along with gift certificates from K&N Filters, AFCO, and product certificates for Tanner, Hypercoils, Impact, and Quick Car Racing Products from Lane Automotive.

Saturday night was a night of Austin’s! Austin Prock of Indiana, won the Midget race and Austin Nemire of Ohio won the HPD Feature at the 3/8 mile Kalamazoo Speedway. Both of these drivers began racing in Quarter Midgets. Prock took the time to talk to the large crowd of young drivers as he celebrated in Victory Lane.

“There is just one event left on the pavement side of the tour,” said Kyle McCain, Series Director. “The upcoming event at the Buckeye Club, September 12-14, is a ‘Wild Card’ meaning drivers use it to add to their minimum 5 race events for National Points or to throw out one of their lowest points races.”

The USAC Honda Dirt Triple Crown Tour continues August 22-24 at Hagerstown Maryland.

“We enjoyed having all of the participants from across the country come to Kalamazoo,” said Amy and Scott Hocevar. “Along with our USAC event, many of our families were able to experience the big track at Kalamazoo Speedway watching the Kalamazoo Klash and the other Midget divsions. We'd like to thank HONDA and all the sponsors, AFCO, CPG Motorsports, Outlaw Shocks, Baker Engines, CSI, NecksGen and others that allowed the series to come to our track and to Lane Automotive for their help in purchasing the commemorative trophies for all podium finishers. It was a great week for sure.”
