QMA Conference Call Minutes of May 29, 1997

The call began at 8:00pm Eastern time with all BOD present.

Pidge and Karen reported that Lou Sherman has taken ill. He has been diagnosed with cancer and it is very serious. Karen to send something from QMA.

Mr. Stowers is dropping his lawsuit. Discussion on filing our own suit against him for recovery of legal fees thus far. The approximate cost is $1300.00. We have not received a bill yet.

No news on Region 3 Election.

Pidge is still working with the programmer on our software. He will send Chris and Karen a Beta version within the week so Chris can begin to get the sanctions in the system. Chris expressed concern over waiting that long to begin and still not knowing if it would work in the end. Approval to contract out the service of entering the sanctions on our existing system.

The Fred McNeill Committee is in a stall. Steve Schmidt has turned in a written report of his findings and we are waiting for Mike McCluney. Pidge will contact him again. It was unanimously agreed that this issue needs to be put to rest.

Karen reported renewing the QMA Certificate of Deposit - $20,000.00.

Discussion on mandating that newly forming clubs have the endorsement of other clubs in their region. No outcome.

Chris read the results of the two radius rod votes. As per the QMA rule the voting tallies will be published in the Quarter Reporter.

Pidge - RCP was defeated

16 votes: 6 yes 8 no 2 abstain

Steve - RCP was approved

11 votes: 9 yes 1 no 1 abstain

No objections to publishing Steve's rule as accepted.

Steve expressed concerns over what he felt were major changes in the Honda Exhaust rules. Pidge and Dick to correct a flaw in the drawing that will clear things up.

Pidge has not yet prepared the honda confiscation RCP ballot that was voted on and approved on the last call. He will work on it this month. It will reflect that it only applies to Honda Novice.

Discussion on tech protocol. It is not necessary to hold up the local finishes or awards during the appeal process. If a status is deemed legal via the proper procedures a duplicate award can be given.

Dick expressed concerns over JSCA races as they may impact QMA's insurance somehow. Harold will speak to George Knight about this.

At the request of the BOD Chris will remain until a successor is properly appointed.

Discussion on request by Topeka QMA to use no judging format.

Vote: Unanimously Denied

Discussion on Mike Tierney not obtaining a non-disclosure agreement from his contracted publisher and not returning one from himself. Chris will fax him a second one tonight after the call. Mike will sign and return the form so Chris can send him the membership disk and he can follow up on the form to the contractor. Nobody opposed.

Discussion on not providing receipts for his Quarter Reporter expenses from early January. Karen has no authority to issue funds without receipts. It was

discussed and agreed that Mike will obtain the overdue receipts and furnish receipts for the June paper also.

Mike has been working with Dean Waters on an official section for QMA at Deans web site.

Chris has turned over the Tech 2000 web site to Mike to manage.

Harold asked for discussion on training new ½ drivers. All novice training rules except the mandatory participation in the stock class should be followed.
